    So. Cal.

We've got ten "concert in the park" gigs booked this summer. Last night was our first in La Habra Heights.

There wasn't a lot going on when we arrived for load-in and sound check.

The sound company the city hired was pretty good but playing in that gazebo was like being under a dome. All the sound was reflected right back down on us.

The main sound guy, Eddie (on the left) is also a bass player. So he took good care of me. :smug:

As you can see, I was thumpin' it old school with my '74 Bassman 100 and a 2x10 Carvin cab. It was more than enough being under that gazebo.

Here's half the band getting ready to sound check. Kelly was looking cute in her jeans and tank top.

The band got fed at one of the food vendors. I had a baked potato with everything on it. It was pretty dang good, from "Kermit's Katering".

The band even had a "green room" in which we could change and freshen up. Of course, we had to share it. ;)

By the time we started there must've been 2000 people in the park. It was a fun crowd.

Kelly even brought little trinkets to pass out to the kids for being such good dancers.

And after all was said and done, here's what we get paid for ... being roadies. I tell everyone I play for free but I get paid to move my gear.

And we've got four more gigs this weekend! We'll be at The Ranch (http://theranch.com) Friday and Saturday night plus we'll be playing for a housing development promotion at Rancho Mission Viejo (http://ranchomissionviejo.com/blog/kelly-rae-band-set-to-perform-at-grand-opening/) during the day on Saturday and Sunday. It's a busy summer for us. We're also at Knott's Berry Farm and the Orange County Fair this summer. If you're in the area I hope you check the schedule on the band's website (http://www.kellyraeband.com) and stop by to see us. I'd love to meet up with you.

How are your summer gigs going? I hope you're working as much as you want. Break a leg!

    Thank you for your indulgence,
