passive 6 string soapbars?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by mollin man, Aug 18, 2005.

  1. Hi everyone,

I am in the process of choosing pickups for the 6 string i'm building and was wondering if anyone here knows of some good quality passive soapbars that have enough output for a fully passive setup.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mollin Man.

Good question...that's one of the things I need to ask them. I think that Harmony Central had some reviews of them, and the consumers were paying (average) about $200 for a pair. I'll have to go back and look.
  9. I'm almost certain Bartolini does passive 6 soapbars too.

Highly recommended. Last time I emailled William, he indicated he'd have standard EMG 35/40/45 housings available soon, and that was a while back.
  11. This guy's stuff has always sounded really interesting, but geez, can't he at least get some teenager to put some kind of minimal website up there? That thing has been "under construction," in more or less exactly its present state, for years now, IIRC.

May I suggest BassCulture of Germany? Christoph made the pickups for my Listerud bass. Sounds great. He'll make pretty much anything to your specs. Mine are dual-coil MM-style with exposed pole pieces and Neodymium magnets.
    Sound clips here.

Yep, almost all Bartolini soapbars are passive.
  14. Yes. that is true but they don't have much output for passive use.
