Passive MM style pickups

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Kraig99, May 11, 2002.

  1. I need a MM style humbucker pickup that is passive and that is fairly affordable. Any suggestions as to what brands or models? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I dunno about affordable :( . The prices on the following run from
    about $60USD (~93CAD) to $80USD(~125CAD).

The Seymour Duncan SMB-4D MM pup can be used in passive mode,
a la' the (discontinued) short-scale Ampeg AMB-1 bass...

    Here's a few online dealers...

Black Rose Customs, drguitarparts, and Warmoth.

The Kent Armstrong MM pickup can be used in passive mode too. It has
bar polepieces (vs individual, circular ones) and Ceramic magnets -- click.

    all of these are passive

    Bartolini, expensive

    Kent Armstrong, not that great

Seymour Duncan, expensive, but not as much as bart.

Carvin, very cheap but no good IMO.
