What would happen if i wired in a 9v battery into my passive PJ bass?
You would introduce a DC offset into the signal that will damage other gear if there is not coupling on the input to block DC.
What are you trying to accomplish?
Well, if you wired the battery to power an onboard preamp module, then that might be a good thing.
Otherwise refer to mmbongo's explanation above.
"A picture is worth a thousand words" mmbongo "you da man"
the pickups are Passive ... an Active PreAmp is the part that needs the juice from the 9 volt ...
but , ... some pickups are active and require 9 volts also , ... which would also power the PreAmp ...
Passive = No Battery required ( or refer to picture above )
