I'm looking at a passive PJ5 and have been offered the option of volume-balance-tone or volume-volume-tone. P+J is new to me, so I don't know which configuration will offer maximum flexibility. I have read that in a PJ bass, the P PUP will often overpower the J PUP, so I'm inclined to go volume-volume-tone unless the collective wisdom here indicates otherwise. I will be running through a Fodera 2000 stompbox preamp.
