Passive tone control on active circuit

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Steruga, Apr 30, 2010.

  1. I'm wanting to install a new pre amp in my old Peavey Dyna bass and trying to chose between a Bartolini or a Glockenklang. Is it possible to add in a passive tone control for a Bartolini like the Glock has? And if so could some one tell me how to wire it? The Dyna Bass currently has volume/blend/bass/ mid/treb pots with an active passive switch so I have 5 pot holes to fill plus the switch hole. I have no objections to opening up the switch hole for another pot, although it is very close to the edge of the cavity.

    Thanks

  2. Yes, it's possible.

Just run the control parallel to the signal, before the input of the preamp.

"Input" goes to whatever is connected to the input of the preamp, and "Output" goes to the input of the preamp.

  3. Thanks, that answers my question!
