Hi TBers, I've got a Jazzbass MIA 5 strung deluxe which I like. Nevertherless when I played (yes for the first time) a Jazz 4 passive, it sounded so good, full and rich sound which I'm not able to take out of my Jazzbass. Ok, the amp I tested was as well different, but the question is ...can you nail the passive sound out of an active Jazz ? What strings are best ? And... do you think 4 strings vs. 5 strings make a difference for the EADG strings sound ? Thank you so much, Paolo
If you set your EQ's halfway, you can approximate the tone of passive Fenders with an active Fender. But it's been my feeling that Fender can't quite nail the 5-string Jazz thing. There's just something off on those basses, I can't put my finger on it but it just doesn't make it for me.
