    Hey everyone,

I was watching this old video of Missing Persons, I Can't Think About Dancing, and wondered what kind of bass Patrick O'Hearn is playing. It looks really cool and light.

    Anyone know?

Wow what a cool song. I can't identify it, but wow the amp sounds like an overdriven SVT... in all its glory....:D

    I been everywhere, man...
    None. At all.
I reserve the right to be wrong, but I recall an interview with him saying it was a highly decorated and hacksaw modified Carvin bass, probably a LB40 model.

Kind of like Geddy Lee's Precision Bass! :help:

BTW, I am a big fan of Patrick's solo work. :bassist:

Patrick mostly plays his fretless Sting Ray when he's not playing keyboards in his own music.

Great tone from anything he does bass wise.

I really love his work with Zappa.

Upright? If not, the beginning sure sounds like it, nice!!! :bassist:

Unfortunately, the only time I saw Frank Pat was not with him, in 1972. But The Mothers still sounded great.

Absolutely. One of my favourite upright performances of all time. :bassist:
