    Land of Hope and Glory
    Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned.
    God make thee mightier yet!
    On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned,
    Once more thy crown is set.
    Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained,
    Have ruled thee well and long;
    By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained,
    Thine Empire shall be strong.

    Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
    How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
    Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
    God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.

    Thy fame is ancient as the days,
    As Ocean large and wide:
    A pride that dares, and heeds not praise,
    A stern and silent pride:
    Not that false joy that dreams content
    With what our sires have won;
    The blood a hero sire hath spent
    Still nerves a hero son.

    -- A C Benson

    Rule Britannia
    When Britain first, at heaven's command,
    Arose from out the azure main;
    This was the charter of the land,
    And guardian Angels sung this strain:
    Rule, Britannia, rule the waves;
    Britons never will be slaves.

    The nations, not so blest as thee,
    Must, in their turns, to tyrants fall:
    While thou shalt flourish great and free,
    The dread and envy of them all.

    Still more majestic shalt thou rise,
    More dreadful, from each foreign stroke:
    As the loud blast that tears the skies,
    Serves but to root thy native oak.

    Thee haughty tyrants ne'er shall tame:
    All their attempts to bend thee down,
    Will but arouse thy generous flame;
    But work their woe, and thy renown.

    To thee belongs the rural reign;
    Thy cities shall with commerce shine:
    All thine shall be the subject main,
    And every shore it circles thine.

    The Muses, still with freedom found,
    Shall to thy happy coast repair:
    Blest isle! with matchless beauty crowned,
    And manly hearts to guard the fair.

    -- James Thomson

    1. God save our gracious Queen,
    Long live our noble Queen,
    God save the Queen!
    Send her victorious,
    Happy and glorious,
    Long to reign over us;
    God save the Queen!

    2. O Lord our God arise,
    Scatter her enemies
    And make them fall;
    Confound their politics,
    Frustrate their knavish tricks,
    On Thee our hopes we fix,
    God save us all!

    3. Thy choicest gifts in store
    On her be pleased to pour;
    Long may she reign;
    May she defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause
    To sing with heart and voice,
    God save the Queen!

    4. Not in this land alone,
    But be God's mercies known,
    From shore to shore!
    Lord make the nations see,
    That men should brothers be,
    And form one family,
    The wide world over.

    5. From every latent foe,
    From the assassins blow,
    God save the Queen!
    O'er her thine arm extend,
    For Britain's sake defend,
    Our mother, prince, and friend,
    God save the Queen!

    6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade
    May by thy mighty aid
    Victory bring.
    May he sedition hush,
    And like a torrent rush,
    Rebellious Scots to crush.
    God save the Queen!

    O Canada!
    Our home and native land!
    True patriot love in all thy sons command.
    With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
    The True North strong and free!
    From far and wide, O Canada,
    We stand on guard for thee.
    God keep our land glorious and free!
    O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
    O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

    Ô Canada!
    Terre de nos aïeux,
    Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
    Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
    Il sait porter la croix!
    Ton histoire est une épopée
    Des plus brillants exploits.
    Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
    Protégera nos foyers et nos droits,
    Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

    Hark when the night is falling
    Hear! hear the pipes are calling,
    Loudly and proudly calling,
    Down thro' the glen.
    There where the hills are sleeping,
    Now feel the blood a-leaping,
    High as the spirits of the old Highland men.

    Towering in gallant fame,
    Scotland my mountain hame,
    High may your proud standards gloriously wave!
    Land of my high endeavour,
    Land of the shining river,
    Land of my heart for ever,
    Scotland the brave.

    High in the misty Highlands,
    Out by the purple islands,
    Brave are the hearts that beat
    Beneath Scottish skies.
    Wild are the winds to meet you,
    Staunch are the friends that greet you,
    Kind as the love that shines from fair maiden's eyes.
  11. The Hymn of Ole Mississippi:

    Well, I was drunk the day my Momma got outta prison.
    And I went to pick her up in the rain.
    But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
    She got runned over by a damned old train.
  12. Blame Canada! Blame Canada! Blame Canada! Blame Canada!

    <3 i love you guys really.
  13. Oh, I don't know....seems to be flowing well at the moment. Of course similar sentiments expressed in a thread yesterday were met a little differently...maybe it's the flag.

  14. Does anybody else think it's really lame that America stole this melody to make "My Country 'Tis of Thee"?

    Marchons, Marchons, qu'un sang imp... euh, non.

    For non french-speaking people : my french national anthem is about "unpure" blood. I can't stand it. We have laws to condamn racism, here in France, and our national anthem is about unpure blood. Find the mistake... :eyebrow:

    I'm proud to be french, but hey, I'm not proud of my national anthem...

    no... you can always dig...

    And this thread is FAAAAR from rock bottom...
  18. No. Much like Australia, we are a country of thieves, rejects, social criminals, and poorly traveled sots with no respect for copyrights. Personally, I used to hang my head in shame, but now I accept this and brag about it while drunk.
