Up for sale is a beautiful Paul Lairat Stega Bass. The only reason why I am selling this one is that I have another Stega that I really love too.

    Specs:

    Scale - 32"

String Spacing at the Bridge - 16.5 mm

    Fingerboard - Maple

Neck - Wenge, Walnut, Mahogany & Maple

    Body - Mahogany

    Top - Maple

Splints - Mahogany, Maple & Walnut

    Pickups - Delano Xtender

    Preamp - Delano Sonar 2

    Weight: 8.5 pounds

I have upgraded the gig bag to a Mono Vertigo Semi Hollow. Why the Semi Hollow body case you ask? Because this bass is medium scale and headless it makes for a great travel bass, too. Thus, I case it in smaller gig bag that makes it easier to fit on planes, etc.

Overall, this Stega is in great condition. The main cosmetic issue with this bass is that there are scratches on the lower splint of the bass. This is there the bass will rest if one is sitting down and playing it:

The following are some clips of what this bass is capable of.

The Stega has been said to be a 'white whale' bass for some other TB'ers here:

    Paul lairat Custom Basses.

I have a 34" Stega too and going between the 32" and 34" is not difficult.

Also, here is a link to Paul's site:

For trades I am looking for modern J basses - Performance, Elrick, Roscoe, Sadowsky, etc. But open to other suggestions.

I am just curious, what is the weight of that bass? Like 3 lbs? :)

Originally, when I saw a Stega bass I thought the same thing considering it's body shape but these basses weigh around 8 - 9 pounds. I can weigh the bass later on a scale but I am sure it is most likely in that range.

If it wasn't for the Marleux Diva with those pups that I just bought a few months ago, I would be on this one like a TB'er on gear!

Good deal. I usually have the same issue - buy gear and then see something down the line. Damn you Talkbass!

Lairat is big on ergonomy. His basses are very comfy and easy to play.

Thanks! When I brought it to GC to check out some amps the sales guy there said it looked like a bass that Dr. Suess and Willy Wonka collaborated on. In all seriousness Paul is a great luthier and this is a great design.

Ha. Have not heard that before but I totally see that. This bass could double as a bow in case your crowds get too rowdy. Or you need to go hunting and play bass at the same time.

Thanks! I hope so too! I have an eye out on something that would like to grab but not sure how much longer that might be around! It's a great bass - very playable, sounds awesome.
