Any help here IDing would be appreciated. Expect it should be a Standard Precision Bass from the 80s MIJ. Headstock has "Electric Bass", metal neck plate says made in Japan, and serial number isnt on the neck bass , or anywhere i can find it. Under the neck are various numbers, 400 S, 39, and not sure about the rest on there, have a look. Any ideas on what model PB or anything?
I'm not a Fender expert by any stretch, but that Fender logo looks unlike any other legit ones I've seen. Might be worth taking a few more pics for the experts when they arrive. Back of headstock, neck heel, underside of pickguard would help.
That thing is awesome !! Not a fender though. Good news is , that bass was most likely made in the 70s. And if it’s still holding up , it’s as good as any 70s fedner.
humm, ok, not sure. Ive seen bullet truss on Fender Bass in the late 70s and 80s. or is there something about this Bullet Truss that flags it being wrong?
Fender never marketed a Precision Bass labelled Electric Bass. On the other hand Japanese made brands in the late '70s did. There are other Tender branded instruments out there, such as this Strat copy on Reverb. Tender Stratocaster Japan | Guitars Cambodia | Reverb
Looks like my old Hondo II P bass. But I think others are right, it’s a MIJ P copy where someone made a bad attempt at a Fender logo. Most of the MIJ and MIK Fender copies from the era are awesome.
As stated above, the bass in your post is not a Fender Precision, but a generic Japanese copy. In the 1970s, several Japanese manufacturers produced P and J copies badged "Electric Bass". Suzuki-built ones (incl. some Mayas) often featured a bullet-type truss rod, whereas those made by e.g. Fuji, Matsumoku and Chushin did not.
You're right. Here's a match: Still made by Suzuki, I'd say, if "Made In Japan" is stamped on the upper half of the neckplate.
TENDER!!! Thanks to all on the thread. MUCH appreciated. Really great bass, but def a Tender. not Fender.
