    Hey there,

    I picked up a used squier P bass for a whopping 25 bucks. I have taken her apart and sanded her down ready to be painted.

    this has me thinking ahead to when I put her back together. I am definately going to get a new pickguard (the old one is a mess) and I am considering dropping in some new pickups.

    Any suggestions, I have heard a lot of good things about the seymour duncan quarter pounders and a local craigs list seller is trying to sell the stock pickups from a 2004 american P for 40$.

    Any thoughts?

    its more important to hear the pickup than to hear about the pickup. listen to online clips and recordings/songs with the pickup.
    if it is a tone you like go for it. If you like tones on different songs of different artists using different pickups listen to that and decide.
    quarter pounds are supposed to have a lot of output and a lot of bass&treble and people say they are mid scooped.
    if the pickups are from an american standard p I would recommend them.
