Peavey 810TVX - Is this right?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Dan Loader, Oct 25, 2003.

  1. The Peavey website claims that their Tour 4x10TVX Enclosure can handle 350watts Continuous, which seems reasonable... But the 8x10TVX can only handle 50watts more.

This seems grossly underpowered, each driver only handling 50watts. The same speakers are used in the 2x10 cab where they handle almost 100watts each.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
  2. Bump. Anyone?

Peavey has a board that can answer that question at peavey.com. Good group and frequent tech support representation.

I used to have the 810. Big mofo, but a great cab.
  4. Cheers, I'll have a post on there.

Perhaps they can tolerate several hundred watts of electrical load, but in the current alignment (cabinet volume and tuning) they exceed their controlled excursion limit (XMax) at 50w. That is only a guess; I have no idea what they are using in that box.

As a general rule, Peavey is extremely conservative in their cab ratings. It can probably take much more.
