Does anybody know anything about the Peavey Series-300 bass amp? All it has for lettering is "Peavey Bass" on the front right side and "Peavey Series-300" on the rear.. I have looked every where including trying to do a search here and cannot find a thing.. Thxs in advance.
That sounds like the one I had. Cost me $25. All I can tell you is it's a good practice amp, not terribly loud, at least mine wasn't. Sounded good though, but when cranked it distorts. Which sounded kinda cool through my old Ampeg 810. Its current owner uses it for a blues/classic rock guitar amp and loves it. In other words, I don't really know anything helpful either.
I *may* have a schematic buried somewhere. It was the predecessor to the Series 400 head I've got. The Series 300 was a very simple amp, few controls IIRC, and probably put out 100 watts into 4 ohms. Simple, but rugged, and underpowered by today's standards. (It evolved into the Series 400 which had more power and progressively more controls.) The Series 300 probably dates from the early 1970's.
I am new here, and restarting my bass playing, i decided to recycle an old thread instead of a new one, can someone help me identify this amp? And if its any good etc?
Dates from 70's / early 80's? Peavey has a pretty extensive collection of archive manuals on their site for older gear.....check there.
If it's the old ones with the square magnet and small dustcap.....decent tone at lower volumes but fart out before you can get loud enough to match a drumset....good for personal practice.
