Peavey Cirrus 6 - convince me!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by mat gregory, May 13, 2010.

  1. Hi all, I've had the chance to trade my sterling for one of these. The bass is a USA built model. Tell me what's good about these basses? What kind of tone variety do they offer?

This is probably the best known clip on TB when it comes to Cirrus tone.

Here is Mike Hill on a Tiger Eye 5, which sounds very close to a Smith:

I love that tone on the Fred Hammond song!
I almost got a Cirrus BXP last week. They are so inexpensive right now!

You can get from the Urban Gospel to a full thick hifi sound.

    has much better sustain.

My view point is tainted though.. I still own a cirrus after ditching a sterling..

    Yes.. you're stealing the Cirrus.

  11. Al I can say is, I used to have three five-strings. I got rid of two. I hung on to the Cirrus USA. I would have to believe it would have been the same story with six-string basses as well.

    For a Sterling? no-brainer.

  15. Peavey Cirrus basses are probably the best kept secret of the bass industry. They're beautiful, built very well, and have some best designed necks I've seen. I can get the action of mine stupid low. I own a USA 6'er and it plays better than a lot of high end basses I've owned.

+100!!! Before I was blessed to get my Ken Smith Black Tiger 5, my Cirrus 5 was the best bass that I had ever played or owned. When I had to decide which basses I needed to sell between my Cirrus, and Alembic Spoiler 4 and a Warwick Thumb 5 BO, it was a no brainer in keeping the Cirrus!!!
