I just bought a Cirrus Walnut 5 string off Ebay and the headstock has a walnut veneer on the headstock instead of the black one that looks like graphite. Is this unusual or just the way they made the walnut basses.

Mine has the gloss finish on the body and the headstock facing.

    Thanks!

A matching headstock veneer is very common on the imports.

  4. The US-made Claro Walnut and Tiger Eye finished Cirri both have thin matching wood veneers on top of the graphite headstock overlay. These are pretty fragile and can separate from the graphite layer. If your headstock has the graphite overlay, it should still be visible from the side.

  5. Sounds like an import, but pics would solve any questions.

    I have a custom Cirrus 5 with a quilted maple. Kinda rare-ish.

The headstock does have the graphite under the walnut. Did not know they made the Cirrus with the fingerboard inlay offshore.

This bass has the ABM bridge and the electronics are certainly USA made. How can you identify the basses made offshore?

    Thanks for the help.

I owned two USA Cirrus basses with Walnut tops and matching headstocks. It was a feature on the gloss finish Claro Walnut topped USA Cirrus basses.

It is also a feature of the "Tiger Eye" quilted maple USA Cirrus basses as well.
