It's going to be time to buy a bass head again soon. I've owned 2-3 Class D heads (Genz Benz Shuttle, Markbass F1, Little Mark) but always went back to Class A + Tube because the class D sounded too much like PAs for me. After playing some of the Peavey class D stuff at NAMM and meeting @BbbyBld awhile back I settled on buying a Peavey because of the power section design. The rub, however is I live in Russia for the moment so I'll be buying it unplayed. The choice will be between the Headliner 1000, the MiniMax and the Minimega. I'm wondering if someone who has played them could tell me if they heard a substantial difference in the preamp voicing on them, and maybe about the quality of the DI. I want to use it for recording here and for playing shows when I get back to the states. I play ska and reggae and punk rock, and sometimes some Motown-esque stuff. I don't slap and play mostly J or P basses with fingers or a pick.
