Peavey Combo, worth salvaging?

I've been playing with a friend's Peavy Bass Combo Mark III Series 260 C Amp. It's got a blown speaker so I'm wondering if it's worth savaging or should I just go new. Any ideas how much it would cost for a 15" speaker? Does the amp suck to begin with? Tough to tell with the blown speaker.

The amp is about twenty years old. The closest equivalent today in the Peavey line would be a TNT 115.

You can probably get the speaker reconed for $100 or less. You're not going to get anything BETTER than that for $100 so I'd get the speaker reconed.

It's a very good , but not great, rock amp . If you don't mind spending the dough you could buy a new Peavey Black Widow 15 . I think the model 1502 is the bass guitar model . Ask your dealer. Don't know the current street price , but it's gotta be a lot cheaper than a new JBL or similar brand .
Again , if you can afford it , buy a better quality amp . Ampeg , SWR , Trace Elliot , Mesa , etc. In the long-run , you'll be glad .
