Greetings, I'm looking at a new Peavey amp called the Vypyre VIP 2, a small practice rehearsal amp that is multifunction. It has guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass channels built into the amp, where you pick how the amp will perform. The bass section emulates Peavey and Trace Elliot amps.

I'm interested in the amp because I could also use it on guitar, I do some recording and strum along with myself on backing tracks, as well as adding drums. The Vypyre has a 40 watt amp and 12" speaker and is specially ported on back for bass or guitar.

My problem: It says it has a midi/audio out, but when I look at the back, it looks like a round midi footswitch output. Can someone explain to me how I would use a midi out to change the signal to analog into a mixer?

Here's link to a sample of the amp:

    Thanks in advance! :bassist:

The so-called MIDI port is for the foot controller. I say "so-called" because it doesn't strictly conform to the international MIDI spec because it has 8 pins instead of 5. And apparently it only works with Peavey's footcontroller.

The digital audio output is via the USB cable, so you can record straight into your computer if that's what you record with. If you need an analog line out I'd just use the headphone jack and an adapter to get. There's no line out because this is apparently not intended for gigging/recording musicians.

MIDI data is never audio. It's either program change commands (as is used for footcontrollers, ect) or is "player piano" data that can only be used to trigger a synthesizer.
