I have a VT bass pedal. I notice when I turn it on, the volume goes way up, and I need to turn my amp volume down.

Does the pedal add extra power or something? Can I blow my speakers using the VT pedal?

Where's the volume (Level) set on your VT? Try turning it down.

The VT does add extra gain, and is difficult to set at "unity" (same volume both on and bypassed) if you have the gain turned up for gritty tone.

It won't blow speakers any more than playing really loudly through your amp without any pedals would do.

    I like your avatar Bochafish!

And yes, it's just a matter of lowering the Level control.
