Perfect "mate" for a Clarus?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by Jsonnenblick, Aug 19, 2002.

  1. I have owned a Clarus head for about a year now (I use it with a Bag End S15D or a Flite 3-way cab), and have found that it sounds vastly different with different basses. After extensive experimentation, I have found the basses that seem to work best with it: G&L's with the giant MFD humbuckers.

I own two, a fretless L2K and a fretted L-2500, and both sound ASTOUNDING thru the Clarus: rich, full, and warm, with an attack that most basses DON'T have thru the Clarus. Also, the G&L's gain clarity with the Clarus that they don't always display thru other amps.

Seriously, G&L and Clarus. . . mmmmmmm. . . if you own one of these, try pairing it with the other!

If you want something flat, give an Acme B-2 a try. it may not be as loud as the bagend, but it does have the lower bass extension, and is mucho quicker and responsive.
