Looking for someone in the general Chicago area to assemble a Bill Fitzmaurice "Simplexx" cab for me. Prefer someone who has built at least one cab previously. If interested, please PM so we can discuss. Cheers.

Thanks. Mike's in Chicago, you're right. I might contact him, but he's involved with his own cabs.

Yeah, I was thinking of that as I wrote my post, but who knows, he might want to help out.

Have you tried asking on the BFM forum?
You may find someone that has built some.

I was thinking--if you had a pro builder like me or someone else build it----you're going to spend about the same amount of dough as buying a new, assembled cab. I think that this is well within an amateur builder's skill set.

My opinion---get someone to cut the wood for you and assemble it yourself! You can do it! I could cut the wood for you for not very much $. Or maybe you have a friend with a table saw. A lot of us (Bill F. started this) use a product called PL Adhesive. You can have all butt joints and the joint is still stronger than the wood. Or---since you're in the Chicago area---you could come over and we could do it together----you can do the time-consuming grunt work and I could help with the more difficult stuff. You'd save a lot of dough that way.

Curious did you do a Simplexx and if so, how do you like it?

Nope, never was able to locate anyone. Then it just kinda fell by the wayside, ya know? Would still like to do it though.

  14. As a simple ported cab goes, a Simplex is bloody complicated! You might as well build a Jack kit.

    I know how that goes.
I had a young fellow that bought a SB500H from me that wants to build his own speakers and I thought to refer him to those plans. I know he doesn't want to spend the money for crossovers/2 or 3-way and wants one or two simple 12 or 15 cabs.

I saw those. I guess it was drawing perspective but the speaker image shown (look at the 212) seemed to have the speakers separated more than the ones on Bill's site. Surely it was just the perspective of the image.

I thought Mike Arnapol's offer was quite generous. Pity it didn't work out.

Yes. I know Mike's a goodfella, but I spoke with him a couple times, & then ... no response. Nada. Crickets. Abracadabra. :D

Certain he's very busy with MAS. No worries.
