We, the undersigned members of the TalkBass community, humbly petition the Holy Administrator and Distinguished Moderators of TalkBass to ban "Vintage vs. Modern" threads forever.

The basis for this petition, oh Exalted Overseers, is the following...

WHEREAS the subject of "Vintage vs. Modern" has taken up more bandwidth on TB than nearly anything else; and

WHEREAS nothing new has been contributed on the subject of "Vintage vs. Modern" in at least a decade; and

WHEREAS the subject of "Vintage vs. Modern" invariably winds up in an incredibly stupid argument that typically devolves to name-calling and the invocation of Godwin's Law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law); and

WHEREAS the harmonious interaction of this community would be enhanced by ending such discord; and

WHEREAS the widespread use of the Holy Search Function should be encouraged (I used it before I posted this petition, in fact, to see if there had been one like it); and

WHEREAS said Holy Search Function is widely available, and will result in "about 2,600" entries on the subject of "Vintage vs. Modern" that should be helpful to those who actually want some information about the subject; and

WHEREAS the bass playing community should be encouraged to try new - and old - things for themselves and not rely on the opinions of a bunch of nearly anonymous folks who may or may not have any direct knowledge of the subject at hand and yet opine as if they were accredited experts in the field,

    BE IT RESOLVED

...that we, as a community humbly petition our Holy Administrator and Distinguished Moderators of TalkBass to ban "Vintage vs. Modern" threads forever.

If we "banned" every thread that ever pissed anybody off TalkBass would be shut down completely.

There are countless subjects that are repeated here. As said, if we banned all of the ones that annoyed each user, there'd be no TalkBass. A better solution? Ignore the threads you don't like.
