I just ran across this great picture, I'd never seen it before

Anyone know what brand of gut strings those are?

Black Diamonds? Did it say what club this was? When I saw the bottles stored on the stand I thought Half Note, but then I noticed the rest of the stand. Is it the 52nd Street Birdland?

Metal endpin spike in the stage floor, mic on the treble side f-hole. I dig that.

The signs above the stage suggest that it was some type of poll winners concert.

I do notice that despite all the "good old days when men were men and got big unamplified sounds" there's a mic stuffed in the f hole. Bet OP would've jumped at the chance to use a pickup and amp.

Did you ever try the D'Armand "stethoscope?" I'll take a make-shift mic any day. And we didn't play any louder than can be done today. We just had to do it all the time

Oscar did use an amplifier in the latter part of his career. Here's an ad where he's endorsing the Ampeg bass amplifier.
