body shape, pickups (number and types), necks, 3 vs 2 pots, pickguards, necks profiles... Headstocks look the same :) Two different basses really. Like a Ibanez SR and SRX.

I grew up playing Precisions and getting back into bass a few years ago I started playing JBass's. I recently picked up another PBass and LOVE the sound, but I think the JBass is a more comfortable body shape.

The body shape isn't different enough to affect the sound. So in general PBass's have wider neck and single humbucker pickup. The JBass has narrow neck and two single coil pickups. So your decision is what sound are you looking for and you like a wide neck or narrow neck.
