Phyllis Diller R.I.P.
I'm going to admit that I thought she was already gone. MAN was she funny though. Even the outrageous attire aside the gal was just flat out funny.
She was funny--and quite a trailblazer during her prime. May she rest in peace.
Me too. She was somewhat ubiquitous on the tube when I was a kid. I always thought she was a bit scary looking. R.I.P.
I remember her well on TV as a kid. Very funny woman.
One of The Greats.
RIP Phyllis, and Joan Rivers owes her everything.
RIP Phyllis Diller. Man, they're dropping like flies!
For years I thought she was the bad lady from The Bugaloos.
Phyllis was in a class all by herself. Her "scary" appearance, as one alluded to, was mostly schtick, like Gilbert Gottfried's nasally voice (he speaks quite normally). I remember her best from a verse of a particular Army cadence:
"They say that in the Army, the women are mighty fine (who said that?)...they look like Phyllis Diller and walk like Frankenstein."
*Sigh*...That was before the "politically correct" Army went full-bore in the early 1990's.
She was good fun. 95, she had a good life.
RIP, Phyllis. Some of my childhood memories of Ms. Diller. TV was a lot funnier back then.
They say that in the army the coffees mighty fine, it looks like muddy water and tastes like turpentine...
"these are my summer diamonds. some are diamonds, some are not" I think that was a quote of hers.
Comedic genius. She made a career of being "ugly." Anothe one of the greats is gone.
