[pic heavy] Neck-through piccolo bass build.

Discussion in 'Luthier's Corner' started by ~ignited~wings~, Aug 4, 2012.

  1. Figured I should share some pics of a build from a while back. Enjoy!

    Attached Files:

  2. Really cool! Got the specs?
  3. If anyone wants to see more pics, or pics of the tele beside it I can post more later.
  4. The neck is jatoba/maple/angelic pedra/maple/jatoba and the body wings are sapele. Wenge fingerboard.

Bartolini pickups: deep tone quad in the bridge and classic bass dual in the neck.
Glockenklang pre, and three way switch for coil splitting on the pickups (inner/ full/ outer). The pre also has a push pull volume for passive mode, and the glock pre has a passive tone control for the treble cut pot, which still works in passive mode.

    Kahler bridge, wilkinson tuners.

Pickups and pre from bestbassgear.com, the rest of the hardware from various other Internet sources (stew Mac etc).

    Everything finished with tung-oil.

    Any other questions?

*I* would require more "tummy" allowance :p
  6. The bass is impossibly thin already, so I couldn't really do much more than I did.

I chose for a thin body (to reduce weight) over a deep cut back.

What is the scale length? I built mine with a 25.5" length.

Kool looking bass. They are alot of fun to play around on.
