I recently acquired a 2014 MIA Standard Jazz in (I think) Mystic Red with maple fretboard. I'm not crazy about white pickguards. I'm thinking either Parchment or Tort. This is a weird combo so I'm in need of a little assistance on what would be a better choice. Google images didn't offer much help.
That kind of red calls for a white or mint guard. Ideally it would look best without any guard but in sure there's routing and/or that stupid CNC/pot stash hole.
I had Pickguardian cut a black/red/black guard for my CAR SX jazz sixer. $50 guard on a $100 bass, cheap thrills but it's kinda sexy. Should work on the darker red.
I'd go with black. It looks great on with my Candy Cola/maple P Bass (at least, I think it does...), and that's a close color to Mystic Red.
I like the black. If it was a rosewood board, I'd say brown tort. Here's another possibility - Cream. Looks good with red/maple. Here's a pic of one of my old basses with a cream guard, and another red bass with with black and tort: This tort guard is actually brown tort, but looks red in the outdoor sun.
Suggestion - comb through the classifieds and buy a few different ones from other TBers. Leo got it right in the design of the Jazz to make it easy to swap quickly. I have several jazzes and several different flavors of guards that I sometimes will swap periodically. Helps with GAS. All of the suggestions so far are good but only you can decide once you actually have it on there. My vote is white pearloid. My P Bass is Old CAR with white pearloid. Here is a pic.
