  4. Neither.

I use my nose.I practice nodding my head side to side for 2 hours a day, great workout.

well i use my fingers like 70% of the time in my playing, but when it comes to like a punky song, i use a plectrum, to get that decent punk sound

there's just some things that cant be done with your fingers:D u gotta use a pick sometimes to get that really fast rythm going
  12. you should do both
  13. Pick...but i shud learn fingers as well....I guess coz I play punk/ska/emo etc. exclusively.
  14. You can go just as fast, if not faster, with fingers than with pick if you practice.

I do both, but fingers about 90% of the time.

    On your bass???

I couldn't imagine doing it any other way. They both have distinct sounds that are useful.

I've had no reason to use a pick.

Love my fingers! Never really ever had a urge to use a pick.

For the most part I really think using a pick for bass is kinda gross.:bag: but that's me!

    Yeah, I use both,
    but I am 98% pick.

My picking style is such that I can play anything
I want with the pick, I use a triangular heavy

I have also developed some other tricks- harmonics,
pull-offs, and pick scrapes that are nice fills that work well with a plectrum, so I have become entrenched in this styleafter originally learning
    finger style.

Each to his own I suppose. Life would be boring
if we all sounded the same.
When you play with bush, you are in the bush leagues ... :D :bassist:

    Finger style over here.

I've tried to use a pick but I can't seem to get the hang of it. I guess I don't have the patience to work on my plectrum technique. For those few times I require the hard attack sound of a pick I form my right hand fingers as one would to hold a pick and I use the finger nail of my index finger. Seems to work pretty well.

Pick, fingers, slap, thumb, palm mute, tap, whatever I need to get the tone I need for the song.
