I use picks when im playing punk, I use my fingers when im playing heavier stuff because I like the heavy tone you get with fingers.

I play bass with a carrot... for the "organic" feel, ya know.

  3. i use a pick most the time, the good ol' "Jim Dunlop Big Stubby" 3mm thick pick, so it sounds almost like fingerstyle. the rare punk song i play i use a thinner pick.

  4. This poll should be multiple choice

All these things apply to me:
I don't use a pick coz I allways loose them
    I don't use a pick coz I don't like the sound
I don't use a pick coz I get more speed fingering

Do you play with a whole carrot, or do you cut the carrot into quarter-like slices? If I were you, I'd always play before dinner. That way, when you're done, you'll have plenty of shredded carrots to put in your salad!

  6. I dont use a pick BECAUSE i like the sound and feel of fingers much better and i can play faster.

Picks are for noses, not basses!!!!

    ;)

    Gimme my carrot!!!!

  9. I agree: This poll should have been multiple choice.

    I don't play with a pick because:

    I don't use a pick coz I don't like the sound
    I don't use a pick coz I prefer the feeling of finger-style
I don't use a pick coz I get more speed fingering
and i just don't like the feeling of a pick

Oh and carrots are great for playing bass. Don't knock until you try it. ;)

There are certain songs or sounds that call for a pick, e.g. For The Love Of Money.

For my own stuff I prefer fingers, maybe 2-5% pick.

I use a thin red Sharkfin.

  11. In the rare situation that I use a pick I use Thin or Heavy Gibson USA picks

Just grab a carrot and make slices of 5mm minimum.

With an average carrot will have 30-40 "all natural" PICKS!! OMG WOW!! Martha Stuart KISS MY ASS!

Sorry, i dont have a camera to show this procedure step by step :(

Pick? Fingers? Hmm, sounds dangerously like a Techniqye thread to me!:)

I used to be a no pick snob, but have come to realize on the last few months that there are some songs which really need that sound. And also, it's pretty difficult to play a 12 string with your fingers, and have all of the strings come out.

A little research will revail the myriad of pros/cons about pick playing.

The carrots win here, and we're done.
