Hey I'm new to talk bass and I was just wondering if there is anyway to get the sound of a pick without actually playing with a pick? I love that sound and its right for the band I play in, but I don't lke playin with a pick nor am I very good at it.

  2. Hey there, johnson, welcome to talkbass. :)

About the pick...I can think of a few solutions:
    1) You might not like it, but nothing gets a pick attack like a pick. With a little bit of practice, you can get pretty good at it. You might still dislike it, but at least you can do it. :)

    2) Use your nails. I'm not entirely sure how this works, seeing as I keep my nails so short that they never poke over the edge of my finger, but it can work.

    3) Ummm...I'm not too sure about this one, but would playing near the bridge help get a brighter attack like a pick?

Well, again, welcome to talkbass. :):D

try using a finger pick. Thay are the metal picks that fit on your finger. You can get them at mars music or some music place.
