Alright... my band is going to be in a Battle of the Bands. We are a three piece. We've been practicing for a while, and everyone is excited, and we all hope to win. We are doing two original songs, a medley of songs (My Friend of Misery, Master of Puppets, Seek & Destroy, Can't Stop, One, Longview), and we are going to do three cover songs as well. Of this list, which three would you pick?

For Whom The Bell Tolls (Metallica)
    Sanitarium (Metallica)
    Until It Sleeps (Metallica)
    Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
When I Come Around (Green Day)
    Basketcase (Green Day)
    Californication (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
    Crazy Train (Ozzy)

    Thanks, Graeme. :) :bassist:

I think most people are Metallica'ed out. I don't mean to bring you down or sound negative, but most cover bands play Metallica.

This is just my point of view, you don't need to take it!

My stance on covers has always been play things that some people, but not everyone knows and always add your own sound and stylings to it. If people wanted to here something they've already heard they could stay home and listen to the radio. A perfect example is Phish's cover of Gin and Juice. I think that playing songs in a different than original genre is also super cool. Reverend Horton Heat has got some awesome songs that are easy to cover (5.0 Ford).
