I need something that I can use for rock, funk, blues, and jazz. I have about $500-$650. I really would rather buy used though. I am tight on money but need to feed the GAS.

  4. im also in the market under 400? cheaper if possible. i hear the sans amp RBI is great for the money. can you get a good punk tone out of it?

Out of that group, I would go with the SWR IOD, one of my favorite pre's. You should be able to coax almost any tone you want of if it.

I've never ever heard of a Demeter Vst210. Do you mean something else, such as one of the Demeter VTBP-201 models?

Sorry, never heard of that one either. You mean VTBP-201. I use the VTBP-201DBL model, and I would highly recommend it. You can't get it anymore except used. If you can find one, they sound great.

That's probably the VTBP-201s. I've heard great things about that one too.

I have and really like the Demeter VTBP-201S.

If you want more tonal flexibility go with the Demeter HBP-1 (but I think it's out of your price range, except maybe used).

So many good ones out there... I wish I could have 'em all! Right now I use either an Alembic F2B or an Ampeg SVP-Pro. I also have a TC Electronics equimetric paralyzer ( ;) ) preamp that I sometimes use in conjuction with those I mentioned.
