I have a nice Seafoam Satin Green Performer body that needs a neck. I'd like to stay with a Fender Jazz neck but there are many choices Here are some features that stand out for me- Vintage Logo Rosewood Vintage tuners Nitro- but that may lock me into only Made In USA What I'm asking is , are the other series necks as good as the Original 60's or 2013-2017 AVRI necks? Or are other USA or MIM as good? The "Original 60's" neck loaded is around $600. Plus, I saw one from Stratosphere without tuners (under $600) that I may install paddle tuners on. I'd install the paddle for nostalgia's sake. Thanks
Tough to say since so much of it comes down to personal preference, but I’m doing the same thing right now and am going with an American professional jazz neck. The Am pro necks just play really well and are very comfortable, if you haven’t had the chance to try one out. I think they’re as good and worth looking into. The MIM player series are solid too
I have an AmPro and went to try an AVRI ‘74 & Vintera 70’s recently. I think the Pro Jazz neck is quite a bit nicer than the AVRI was. It feels much more solid than the AVRI and the satin back is much smoother. The profiles are similar, but the Pro is thinner front-to-back (which could be good or bad, depending on your preference).
My own personal preference is the 75 reissue Japanese made necks or their equivalent. The profile is as close to my '69 as I've ever found. Here's my 2010 MIJ JB75-94US on which I installed Gotoh pops, and my 2005 CIJ JB75-94US which will have the pops and a John East preamp when I get around to it: I'm sure that Warmouth or Allparts has similar necks currently available, or maybe something will pop up on the Stratosphere.
2020 Fender American Professional Jazz BASS NECK 9.5" Radius Slim "C" Rosewood | eBay Is this the one? If yes what are the stock tuners?
