Hi, Currently, I have a Standard Fender J-Bass.

Everything on it is stock, and the sound is just terrible. The bridge is weak because it cannot support the strings. The bridge causes the strings to be very close to the pickups, and the bass also has a buzz sound.

So, I am wondering if I should buy a BadAss II bridge and EMG-JV pickups to enhance my sound.

    What do you recommend?

  2. I put a hipshot ultralite and emgs on mine
    On word, nice......
  3. Do a setup on your bass.

  4. with the standard bent plate bridge and stock pups the bass should play ok
the factors which cause people to change bridge and pups arent really down to needing a set up of
    strings and pups:)
worth a shot to save some cash, since those things would be done at that time anyway.

It defintley sounds like your bass justs needs a proper setup. Either get it done or do it yourself before you go buy anything new. You might save a lot of money.
  6. I have to agree with the setup deal. I've got a standard bridge it it works fine.

As far as replacing the pickups, it's hard to beat a set of Dimarzio Model J's. They're only around $90 a set.
