I'm not a bass player, but I am in the business of modding and building guitars.

I have a music man stingray clone (Aslin Dane specifically) and I'm re-doing the wiring and new pots, but once I tore the cover off, I saw one tone pot was a push pull and I'm just not sure if it does anything with the way it's wired. Half the terminals aren't hooked up to anything and when I put a meter to it, it doesn't split the coils.

No pre amp or anything, just straight up passive.

    Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're asking

  3. Have you tried switching it plugged in? what does it sound like it does? Which pot is the push-pull - treble, bass or vol?

Do the wires from the switch go to the pickup or the preamp?

if only one pole is used, and the switch is associated with the pickup, it's possibly a coil tap. Try the usual. Tap each coil with something metal.

If the wires go to the preamp, and it's a clone of the original 2-band MM preamp, then it could be a few things. I've made copies of this pre a few times and changed the caps that are in the treble filter. This is a common mod, perhaps the switch is wired to change the treble cut/boost frequency.

Ah, I believe I may be a treble filter, it's on the second tone pot. However, it's not a pure Stingray clone, as it has no pre amp. Strange, I know. I don't have a bass amp to try it (once back together) but I did put a multimeter to it and it is not a coil tap. I probably could re-wire the whole thing to do so, but I'm sure the way it's currently wired is a more popular configuration. Again, I'm not a bassist, so I know very little of the wiring and configuration of stuff like this.

  5. perhaps a photograph? or a diagram of how it's wired would help...
