Hello, firt time post. I am looking for a pickup cover and possibly bridge for a 98' MIM jazz bass V. Are these parts generic and fit bot 4 and 5 string basses? or do I need one specifically designed for their 5 string basses? I have only seen the generic(vintage) sets of the two together or pickup cover alone, but none specifically for a 5 string. any input would be appreciated. Thanks,
do you know if anyone makes 5 string bridge covers? Havn't seen those either and they make it look so classy.
I haven't seen any 5 string bridge cover either. I think the only reason why they even have that pup cover is cause of the MM 5 string jazz
Ah, the plot thickens! So I have gotten the pickup cover but, when I took off the pickup guard to inspect the are underneath, as expected the lower area where I will need to screw in the lower half of the cover has alreadt been routed out. So now I'm trying to figuer out whether to go with some sort of block under the pickguard, but the area is small so im afraid wood would split, so maybe something like PTFE plastic. Or, Just using a longer scew. Any suggestions?
OK, so i installed the pickup cover, wit a wood riser, but it(the cover) practically touches the strings, and whe I'm playing slap it's impossible not to have the strings bounce of the cover and it's LOUD. Ting! Ting! Ting! The saddle on the B string is already bottomed out. Now What?
