Does anyone know of a replacement pickup for a '79 Ibanez Musician bass (4 string)? The size of the old pickup is 3 3/4"x 1 5/8" . It almost has the same look as a Stingray, but with only 4 poles instead of 8. I can't seem to find a manufacturer who makes a pickup that will fit. If anyone knows of one I'd apprecirate their web address or phone number.
    -Thanks!

I think the bartolini bb4cbc will fit. It might require a little bit of widening on the route, but I don't think it will. I agree that the pickups and preamp on this bass can be noisy. On mine, with the passive tone at zero and the preamp on, I catch radio stations!

  5. I just scored one of these basses in a trade. The pickup is awesome! Great sounding bass.

    godofthunder59 and e-flat like this.
  6. And yeah, it's a bit noisy because of being single coil, but still workable. I used mine this weekend at a gig and a simple noise gate took care of any buzz.

I'm thinking about replacing the pickups and wiring for the Nordstrand Big Blade Man with Justin Chancellor JC-3B Pre Amp.
    Change my mind....

I'm disinclined to change anything on mine, but would encourage you to experiment with yours and report back.
