pickup grooves and sound coloration

    I'm not sure if I see what you're talking about... Unless you're talking about the Bartolini logo? :confused:

    Edit: Or are you talking about that bit of discoloration on the pickups in the spaces between the strings? I don't think they're grooves; to me it looks as if that's just a little discoloration from wear.

    yup, looks like standard finger wear to me and not grooves.
    It's very common with Bart pickups IME.

    yeah i was talking about the discoloration part under the strings.

    i need a goddamn digital camera so i can show exactly what i mean. my washburn pups are nasty lookin.

    no affect. Real grooves (slap) will have no affect to my knowledge. I've had a set of EMGs some chimpanzee pried out with a screwdriver and ran gouges into the pups and they worked perfectly.
