So I have a Ibanez Gio Soundgear, it's my first bass.
I usually use the fingerpicking style, but I do like to use Slap and Pop also. I was playing my bass recently and was slapping the E string and it didn't make a sound. (I was using an amp). I'm thinking that it's a problem with the pickups, and when I turned the double coils off, it still happened with the single coil pickups. This problem only happens when I'm slapping the E string, not any of the other ones, and it doesn't happen when I'm finger picking. Please help! I'm not sure if I should put the whole bass up for repair or buy new pickups... Just Please Help :help: I'm sorry if I sound sort of ignorant, I've only been playing for a year.

Sounds like you pickup is shorting out when your thumb hits it. New pickups are cheap and easy.
