Hey guys, I've lurked about this forum's archives for years, and its where I learned about my current bass (Squier Vintage 70's Modified). However I'm looking to upgrade it, and here's what I have so far: Strings: GHS 3060s (Nylon Tapewounds) Bridge: Badass II Pickups: And here is where I come to my dilemma, I've read the J pickup replacement thread and am still coming up with a blank on what to do about pickups. The bass is passive and is Soft Maple for both the body and the fretboard. So my question is can anyone suggest a set of pickups that I can get the most out of with this configuration, while still getting a vintage/upright sound, and still maybe being able to squeeze out a bit of that interesting Rickenbacker "plunga plunga" sound (I know this is a REALLY tall order, but I'm willing to make trade-offs if necessary, just as long as it sounds awesome)? So if anyone can throw some suggestions my way it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time helping me out guys, you rock! cheers, John
I do it all with my dark voiced quad coil pups, but i also have a 3-band pre amp on my jazz, and a Little darker woods. But ya barts tend to be a little darker, plus they make a bright/dark version of just about every pup so id start there with at least dual coil pups dark voiced
Interesting...I hadn't considered Barts and was thinking of maybe going with DiMarzio Model J's or the Fender SC Noiseless pickups. But now that you've mentioned Barts I'm going to have to do a bit more research. Thanks dude!
