    All,

I've got a fretless Carvin LB75. It's all Koa, neck, sides, and all, and has the bridge humbucking pickup with the neck J. Both active.

It's a pretty nice bass, but boy does it sound dark. Maybe a little tubby on the neck pickup too.

Has anybody experimented with replacement pickups that fit Carvin 5-strings? I'd like to find something that gives me a bit more hi-fi sounding upper midrange and maybe a bit brighter.

    Suggestions apprectiated.

Most people replace their carvin pups w/ barts. But I don't know that those will get you the sound you are after.

    This belongs pickups forum.

Quite right. I should have posted in the pickups forum. Apologies.

Barts or EMG is my guess.

I paid for all my gear myself. Well, me and MasterCard.
Bill Lawrence J-45L pickups are a direct replacement, and sound great!

But you'd know that if you'd done a search. ;)

With all due respect, Chucko, I did do a search. I searched on "Carvin LB75 Pickups". I got about 30 pages of results, most of which seemed not at all relevant to what I was looking for. Frankly, I don't have the time to look through all of the tripe to find what I need.

I think I'm outta here, guys. I posted one nice, honest question on the forum, and got three replies. Two of them were scolding me for my transgressions against the rules. I didn't realize that we all needed to be so uptight.

    Good luck, everybody.
