anyone here have a bass with the pickup(s) wired straight to the jack? any pictures and sound clips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Pictures of what exactly?

Wiring direct to the jack eliminates the resistance of the pots and gives you a very bright and hot signal.

    It's a great mod for P basses.

Haha i should have been more clear, pictures of the wiring.

i am thinking of doing this for a side project with an old p bass body i have laying around. i just want to see what the wiring looks like so i can have some idea of what i am doing. cant find pictures or diagrams of it online.

It is absolutely do-able. I don't have pics, but I've seen it done. Yes, it has a much brighter tone and higher output.

  5. There really isnt anything picture worthy to show.
When you wire direct to the jack, you do exactly that...
The hot wire goes to the tip of the output jack, and the bridge and pickup ground go to the sleeve.

Very rarely do I wish I had my volume knob back. I usually set the amp on the hot side and control my picking if I need to bring the volume down.

    Knobs are overrated IMO.

  8. But the world's full of em :bag:

I'm the oposite, I'm a tweaker, volume and tone just isnt enough!

  9. I prefer bypassable controls.
I get both worlds with no compromise.

  10. i can't remeber the last time i had to rol back my volume on the bass. my carvin dosn't react nicely to the volume nobe being touched. no tone at all
can you do this with active basses though?
i mean mose pre amps have a volume knob that comes with them don't they?
