I'm working on a cigar box bass (build thread forthcoming), and am using an Ashbory pickup/bridge system. Problem is, I have no earthly idea what I'm doing and I don't know which wire connects to what.

Attached is a picture of the two wires coming from it, one white and one copper. Here's a picture of the type of jack I'm using (on the right):

    Picture-12-573x400.

I'm not using a preamp, so which wire's the ground and which wire's hot? Again, sorry for my newbishness. :bag:

The white wire is hot and the copper is ground.

  3. Inner conductor to the tip, braid to the sleeve. You might consider a resistor parallel to the signal to drop the output impedance to where it would be with a volume pot in the circuit.

Thanks a ton! That's all I needed to know. Volume works fine
