    Ok here are the specs

I'm getting a custom 7 string bass built

It's going to be fretless, headless and be 35" scale
its going to have several laminations for the neck, an ebony board and some nice tone woods with a hollowed out body.

Now here comes the hard part

    the electronics?!?!?!

At first it was Lane Poors, then he went the way of the do do
I was thinking a Kensmith 7 with an aguilar preamp and a bill conklin fully parametric eq

but I'm sure KenSmith will charge me abundle for that pickup since a base 7 string lists at almost 10K

so I treid seymour duncan, and they want to make a kiling off me

    so now what

I'm thinkin I want a Bart triple coil a demeter preamp/aguilar/bart and the bill conklin fp eq (thanks JT 8))

    what do you guys think?

I will be playing Jazz/Fusion/Prog/Metal all in one hehehehe (think Sprial Architect and Gordian Knot)

Barts and Ken Smiths are pretty mellow IMO. You'll get a nice tone for Jazz and Fusion, but my experience with Bart-equipped basses and Smith basses suggests that they won't compete with heavy guitars. What does the luthier recommend?
