I'm planning an upgrade on the pickup for my stingray copy.
what are the most suitable pickups that the various companies have on offer?

So far i've only found recommendations for the Seymour Duncan SMB-4 for Music Man® Bass .

    How about EMG and bartolini?

i like my sound more bright than warm with lots of punch.

Carey Nordstrand is in the process of adding a MM style pickup to his expanding pickup line. They're not ready quite yet, but I'm sure some fellow TBers will pop those suckers into their EB MMs and will post reviews when the time comes.

Yeah, I think the Barts are good sounding. Although you might see if you can find someone who is 'upgrading' the stock pu in their Music Man...like on eBay somewhere. I know that Ernie Ball won't sell the MM pus, but you might be able to find a used one. I just think the original Music Man pus sound way better than any after market ones...just my opinion :)
