I recently converted my old Samick four string into a fretless and was wondering what pickups would sound good for it (with roundwounds).

I'm using Seymore's SJB-1's in my J's. I dig 'em. D'Addario Chrome Flats on the fretless, and XL rounds on the fretted 4. These are not high output p/u's so I end up running the gain pretty high, but very trad sounding Nice 'n woody. I think they nail the early J sound pretty well. I especially like them on the fretless.

Having said all that, I'm jonesing for a set of Lawrence's to try. I have one set of hunbuckers in my 335 and they are just fabulous. They came in it and it's the first axe I've had that I didn't dare dink about with ...

    Hope that helps
