I'm looking to replace the pickups in my bass and would like to know what pickups are out there that have the same physical shape of the EMG 45s?

    Thanks,

Are you getting rid of the 45s? That's what I use and I love them.
If you are looking for an alternative to the EMG sound, you could try a Bartolini M5, which is the exact shape of the EMG 45

Don't forget if you are modding a bass designed with EMG pickups in mind you will have to add a ground wire to the bridge, which EMG's dont need or use.

Guess I should've clarified...I'm changing the pickups in my bass and putting in a larger size so as to more effectively cover the B and C strings (they sit at the extreme of the pickups sensing ability). The current pickups are passive attached to a preamp. The preamp has been gutted and I've wired a single pickup to the output jack and I'm much happier.

So I want to get a passive soapbar pickup in the shape of an EMG 45. I've been entertaining the idea of an EMG45hz but wanted to see what else was out there that had those dimensions.

    Thanks,

    James

If you have a bass that has a battery compartment, then you would be good to go with the 45DC model. They don't require any kind of preamp at all, I wired mine V/V/T. I really like them, and they took my inexpensive Yahama and made it sound like a modulus.

If you realy want a passive bass, then the passive emg's you mentioned or the barts would be fine.
