  1. what does a Humbucking pickup do as opposed to a single coil pickup?thanks

    Without getting too technical, they're basically a stronger output and a more agressive sound. Less mellow if you prefer that terminology.

    That's a very gneral description and they're are exceptions.....

    basically, Humbucker have multiple coil wraps to "buck" the "hum" that occurs in a single coil pickup. sometimes the coils are side by side, top to bottom, or stacked on top of each other.
