Come on... I know someone's bought this awesome Fender RI, but figured "Ya know, it's cool, but it would so much MORE cool if I just changed/added/sanded/hammered/swapped/etc this..."

    Post away with your pics!

Hell, I'd love to just see how one looks with a black pickguard in place of the stock white... :D

Changed the BadAss II to a Gotoh (not pictured)

Love the mirror pickguard. But I am laughing to myself about something--

Isn't the Geddy already a modified nass ('72 J)?! Just thought I'd point that out, in case anyone else is working for the Department of Redundancy Department. Okay I'll stop now.

Sweet looking basses BTW, and I hear they play great. I haven't mustered the stomach to go to guitar center to try one for myself (or to go there for any other reason). But that is a whole other thread.

i kinda like the look of them if it wasnt for that super slim neck. The regular MIA Jazz neck is already thin enough for me. No need to go thinner

I love the mirror guard, but i hate the fact that i can see your Sadowsky in it. It makes me jealous.

When I was shopping for my Jazz, I wanted a Geddy because they are just gorgeous, but I tried one and couldn't deal with the neck... oh well. I really dig the one with the black on white pg, though.

I'm probably wrong but I think besides the Badass II bridge, it's stock. I remember reading some article where Geddy said it's pickups have more low end than any other Jazz he's tried. He didn't say they were aftermarket pickups in the article.

How are/were the Sadowsky and Bassline pickups?

Here's mine, new pickguard and knobs:

I also de-glossed the neck, added a Hipshot D tuner and Dunlop strap locks. I LOVE the thin neck on my Geddy, I don't like other Fenders I've played. It's what makes this bass awesome for me.

I read that. He actually thought that the low end was caused by a wiring problem.
  11. Wow, the whole scheme of the mods and the bass flow very well.

It's less contrasting than the stock version.

I personally am debating on whether to keep the stock pickguard, or put a new one on, or just not use one.

    Ok, I'll bite. Here's mine:

the p/g projects tons of different colors depending on the angle you're looking at it, as you can see:

All the previous customized GLs look great! :D
  13. After I get my Geddy Lee I was thinking of doing a natural finish on it and putting a black pick guard on, I know, it'll look marcus millerish but I like that look.
  14. But the neck'll be the same. And that's still a very good thing.

You'll probably get a disgusting alder grain if you do.

Only thing I've done so far is change the pickguard to pearl white. This bass won't need to be modded any further unless I get bored with it.

  17. hmm good advice :D

could anybody post a pic of what alder grain looks like?

I was all ready to come in here and praise Lizzy's GL, but one look at Mikey's abalone-esque p/g and that idea got shot out of the water.

Sorry Lizzy, but you do get to hang with His Yoginess, so I'll envy you for that instead. ;)

Is that a Warmoth neck or what?
